Dr Giuseppe Femia

Interventional and Cardiac Device Cardiologist

BSc (Hons), MBBS (Hons USyd), PhD, FRACP, FCSANZ

Dr Giuseppe Femia is an Australian trained compassionate interventional and cardiac device cardiologist dedicated to providing exceptional patient-centred care using cutting-edge techniques.

Dr Femia graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School with Honours before completing cardiology training at Wollongong and Liverpool Hospitals. He then completed three further years of sub-speciality fellowship training at Liverpool Hospital in interventional cardiology and cardiac device implantation.

Additionally, he has completed level III Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) fellowship at Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Sydney.

Current Positions

Dr Femia has admitting rights at Sydney South West Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.

Areas of Expertise
  • Chest pain and shortness of breath
  • Heart attacks and coronary artery disease
  • Coronary angiography, coronary imaging and complex coronary intervention (stents)
  • Heart rhythm abnormalities (dizziness and palpitations)
  • Cardiac device implantation (pacemakers and defibrillators)
  • Cardiomyopathies/heart failure
  • Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Research Contributions
Dr Femia is passionate about research and teaching, with significant academic contributions and peer reviewed publications. He completed his PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Sydney examining novels techniques to investigate conditions associated with sudden cardiac death and a postdoctoral research fellow mentored by world-renowned experts in cardiac magnetic resonance. He is a conjoint lecturer and PhD supervisor at The University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University. 30.
